Is It Time For Help With Your Loved One?

There comes a point when family caregivers begin to realize they do not have the capacity to do it all and need Lares Home Care service. It is important to recognize the signs that your loved one needs constant supervision and/or assistance with everyday activities, such as hygiene and getting dressed. Family members also find housekeeping tasks and regular errands are accomplished with extreme difficulty or not done at all. It may become apparent that in order to get anything done outside the home you will need to hire a reputable care agency. The process can become overwhelming when you approach the process by looking at the big picture. However, many options are available for finding help at home. It is best to start by assessing your needs and the needs of the person being cared for. In general, consider the following areas.

  • Personal Care: Eating, Bathing, Dressing, Toileting
  • Household Care: Cooking, Cleaning, Laundry, Shopping
  • Health Care: Medication Management,  Physician’s Appointments, Physical Therapy
  • Emotional Care: Companionship, Meaningful Activities, Conversation

It is also crucial  to evaluate the values and preferences of the person needing care. He or she may be more comfortable with a person who shares similar cultural backgrounds and/or languages. The care recipient may also have a preference between male or female caregivers particularly if they will be helping with personal care. Let us take the stress out of hiring in home care so that you can get back to living your life to the fullest.
